The Challenge

Technical Standards

All leadwork installations were carried out in accordance with recognised UK industry standards and heritage conservation practices, including BS EN 12588 — Rolled lead sheet for building purposes. Works involved the installation of Code 7 sandcast lead using traditional detailing methods appropriate to historic construction.

Installation followed accepted principles promoted through the Lead Sheet Training Academy (LSTA), ensuring correct allowance for thermal movement, durability, and long-term weather performance while maintaining the architectural integrity of the historic lantern structure.

The Result

The completed works reinstated durable weather protection to the Westminster Hall lantern while preserving the historic character and architectural detailing of the structure.
